The Random Shelf: Easy Reader

Oh, easy readers. So useful, but usually not terribly exciting. When I find an easy reader that not only has a decent controlled vocabulary but also has a decent storyline, I feel all happy inside. Last One in is a Rotten Egg may look a little dated (published in 1969), but the storyline of a boy confronting his concerns about swimming and dealing with older kids at the pool is something that today's modern kid can understand. Vocabulary is appropriate for readers beyond the sight word phase. Cute story.
