Animals of the Bible won the first Caldecott Medal in 1938. The book consists of excerpts from the Bible, accompanied by black and white illustrations. There's an embarrassment of riches concerning children's Bible stories, but this one is interesting for historical purposes. I'm not commenting much on this one; I didn't read the entire book (remember, I reserve the right to not finish a book!).
